Army to mobilize if territorial integrity threatened: CoAS

KATHMANDU, March 7: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Rajendra Chhetri on Sunday said that the national army would be immediately mobilized if any situation was created threatening the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity.Addressing NA serving personnel at Army Headquarters on the occasion of Shivaratri and Army Day 2072, General Chhetri stressed the need of mobilization while remaining within the constitutional jurisdiction as the army’s prime responsibility. “Though military operations are an aid to ease the political process and security threats are to be resolved politically, the national army cannot just be a mere spectator,” said CoAS Chhetri.
